The "Cottage Style" is a sub-category of the "Country Style." The
"true" definition of "Cottage" is "a small vacation home."
Yet, as homeowners are scaling down, for lifestyle or economic reasons, the Cottage Style
is being used to build and decorate primary dwellings.
Additional terms, that can be used to describe the Cottage Style are: "rustic, fresh,
happy, springy, charming, informal, intimate, romantic, delightful, and cozy."
"The Cottage Home Network" is
a site that is devoted entirely to Cottage Homes. On this site you can: (1) browse through
a photo gallery of recently built cottages with a listing of architects working in the
cottage-style; (2) visit a library of books and cottage-lifestyle magazines, and; (3) view
a "living room" filled with leads to sources of furnishings, architectural
fittings and hardware items.
As usual, it was hard for me to choose one book to feature. Here are the ones I thought
would help you the most with Cottage style designing.
